Meet Dr. Luis F. Delima
Dr. Delima was born in Denver, CO and was raised in Venezuela. He obtained his dental degree at the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 2003 in Caracas, Venezuela. In 2009, he completed a fellowship in geriatric dentistry at the Oral Health Services Program from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. In 2012, he completed his residency in Prosthodontics at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He obtained his diplomate at the American Board of Prosthodontics in 2012.
He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the U of M School of Dentistry and serves as Director of the Division of Prosthodontics. He teaches the Removable Partial Dentures and Clinical Occlusion courses. In 2012, Dr. Delima began his private practice and in 2015, he purchased Dr. David Clay’s practice and established himself in the Metro area.
He is dedicated to making his patients happy while providing the highest quality of care. Dr. Delima embraces the value of continued education by frequently attending Scientific Sessions and as instructor for prosthodontic courses for his dental peers across the United States.
Se Habla Español! Dr. Delima’s native language is Spanish, and he can also communicate well in Portuguese. He always welcomes the opportunity to relate to his patients in their same language.
Luis lives in Edina, and when he is not in his office, he enjoys riding his mountain bike, playing golf and spending time with his wife, Dr. Carolina Rodriguez, and his lovely daughters, Nicole and Samantha.

The ambiguous dental implants. Some clinics say you can have new teeth right away however, I prefer quality over speed. Working with Dr. Delima was not only pleasant but also crucial to my dental health. I have a long track record with the dentist. To put it in perspective, I had six root canals performed by the time I was 18. Before I was 27, I was missing 6 permanent teeth. I felt as if my teeth were disintegrating from my mouth. I did some research about dental implants and nonetheless had multiple dental consults advising me to avoid them at my young age. I was in pain and constant infection. Very unhealthy. My main concern was to have a healthy mouth that I could maintain. It was not until I met Dr. Delima that I truly understood what was causing such rapid decay. He explained how foods interact with MY SPECIFIC mouth, what steps I would need to approach maintaining my mouth when it was in a healthy state again, and special care to ensure that we would work as a team to accomplish this. He also explained many other dental questions that lurk in our minds during an appointment such as, why your heart rate flutters when you get Novocain even though you have had it so many times you do not even flinch at the pinch anymore… the slightest drop of Novocain in your bloodstream causes an adrenaline reaction. I wish I would have known that years ago! He answers any question you could possibly have and does not only make himself available, he truly cares. I spent more time with him than my fiancé the year I was getting married. He made my smile, made of temporary teeth at the time, gorgeous for the big day and honeymoon. He calmed my nerves, assured me, and did not let me down once through the whole journey. A journey worth the time to get it right and properly heal. You are in the best hands.

My time with Dr. Delima began when he was a student at the U of M. There was never anything about my case history that was easy for him. I am more than certain that there were days when I was the last patient he wanted to see. Yet he has exercised incredible patience with me–and continues to–and has never caused me to feel that way. I have come to realize that Prosthodontics is an art form, and that Dr. Luis works diligently to strike the perfect balance of aesthetics and function. He provides his patients with a very professional, yet warm, comfortable setting and his staff is wonderful. In all the while we’ve known each other, I’ve come to believe that Dr. Luis is not only a true professional and an expert in his field, but also a true friend.
